Mason Jar Ministry

Mason Jar Ministry

Know someone who needs encouragement?

*UPDATE* We will now accept submissions anytime.

OUR PURPOSE

To actively live out the call of Romans 12:9-13. This multi-faceted weekly service project is meant to involve everyone in the church, no matter what level of personal contact they are comfortable with. It is also meant to connect the people in our midst and beyond that are feeling lonely, disconnected, sick, and hurting. It is an outreach opportunity that gives our Trinity family members the opportunity to pour out some tangible love from Jesus to people around them in a time when being together as a body is such a challenge.

Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other. Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying. When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality.”

Romans 12:9-13

HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED?

THE PLAN

We prepare and deliver care packages every week. We will gather at the church to prep the packages every 1st and 3rd Monday at 12:00 NOON, so if you’d like to get involved with assembly, we invite you to join us! Packages are delivered by Monday evening, so we can always use volunteers to drop them off!

Please see our Calendar for specific dates that we are meeting, or follow us on Facebook for updates.

FINANCIAL

From time to time we will publicize specific needs we have, but this ministry relies solely on donations for supplies needed. The approximate weekly cost depends on the number of names submitted. To donate, you can contact Leah for weekly needs, or write a check (payable to Trinity Alliance Church, with ‘Mason Jar Ministries’ in the memo) or you can donate through our online giving (click on GIVE above, there is a special line item for this ministry).

MASON JARS

If you have empty mason jars that you are not using, please consider donating them to us! You can also purchase them on Amazon and ship directly to Leah. The 16-ounce and larger sizes are what we will use the most. We are encouraging recipients to either return the jar to the church so we can re-use it, or to bless someone else that can use some encouragement.

PRAYER WARRIORS

We would love to have a team of people who are willing to pray specifically for the recipients of these packages! This is such an important aspect of this ministry, and is perfect for those that do not feel comfortable leaving their home or gathering in a small group.

CARDS

We will be including handmade cards with a handwritten note in each package to add a personal touch. We need people to write a personalized note in each card. If there is interest, we will also provide opportunity to learn to create cards.

CRAFTS

A special craft will be placed in each package and we can always use help assembling these! This is a great opportunity for kids and/or teens to help, plus it’s a lot of fun!

PACKAGING MATERIALS

We use medium-sized gift bags with handles and/or mid-sized cardboard boxes to package and transport our gift packages to their destination. We need enough for at least 10 each week. If you have a delivery to your home or can get them in a store, we would greatly appreciate the donations!

DELIVERY

Since Monday is the day that the care packages are assemble and delivered, we will need delivery people to get them to each recipient. This can be done after they are assembled or later in the evening. Most recipients don’t know this is coming, so most often we leave them on their doorstep. Occasionally we get to hand them in person and it’s such a joy to see the surprise on their face! This is a perfect activity for families with little ones to do together. None of the kids have to get out of the car and parents are encouraged to talk to their kids about who the person is, as well as pray for them on the way to their house.

FLOWERS

Fresh flowers are included in each care package because they are such a beautiful reminder of God’s creation and beauty. If you have flower-arranging talents or want to provide a selection of flowers, please let us know!

FOOD PREP | BAKED GOODS

We provide a variety of food options in each weekly care package. Most of the food prep needs to be done on Monday and can be done at the church or brought from your home. Please reach out to Leah if you are gifted in this way, or if you have experience baking alternatively (gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, etc)!

SUBMIT A NAME

We will need communication from each member of the congregation to help us keep tabs on everyone. If you know of someone who could use some extra encouragement, please submit their name so we can send them a special care package. Please submit one form per person, a family can be submitted on one form.

OUTREACH

We would like our TAC family to utilize this ministry as a way to reach out to people in their own community who need Jesus and some encouragement! We just ask that if you nominate someone that we don’t know yet, you be the one to make the delivery of the care package.
